I'm not sure what fits in the BG doors easily. I've got a 6-7mm spacer in my other halfs BG and has some mid-range pioneer 6.5" speakers in it, with out any clearance problems at all. The spacer has a bit of an angle on it which also gave us much better sound.

For your price range you could look at a few different higher end speakers. There are not too many really good shallow depth speakers out there. I'd suggest measuring the depth you can go to 1st to make sure it will fit.

Focal 165V2 are quite nice and are reasonably shallow
Boston SL60's sound nice as well and I think they are also shallow.

You are probably best talking to a specialist such as Marty at FHRX - http://www.fhrxstudios.com/

They'd be the TS-Cs? Chipa (The Mid-range Pioneers?) The Silver cone just below the kevlar cones? We found them to be a more natural sounding speaker forthe MX5 - surprisingly good for that install.

Let your ears do the decision making. Remember the key is too listen to as many products as you can and let your own ears decide for you. There is no special scientific formula behind the choice. Just go with what you like the sound of. Please don't just take my word for it. My opinion is only one of many. Other audiophiles may well have totally different tastes. Check the products out yourself and see if you remain with the afore mentioned ones or you settle on something else.

Well you'll need to make different thickness spacers but they can be installed. We've have put them all in except the Crossfires.
