This is just to c what everyone is thinking about speakers and brands...
I was hoping pplz could list who they believe is the best brand for amp/speaker/sub, just to give me an idea of where to look for quality/price.

Thanks

Clarion head units for sure

Speakers come down to personal listening taste - go to a sound board at jb hifi/strathfield/wherever and let your ears make the call on the speakers.

I have Kenwood splits in the front and they sound amazing, in the back I have Sony 2 ways and they're inefficent and sound like ****.

My sub is an older Pioneer running from an older 120w Alpine amp and it owns basically everything else I have heard that hasn't had large sums of money invested into it, my amp and sub only cost me 130 NZD. No one seems to be able to explain why it goes so well either.

have u guys had a play with pioneers premier gear though leaves alpine type X gear for dead just good luck finding it in australia :P

i personally have had nothing but problems with alpine speakers and will never ever recomend them again but each to there own there cheap and give u good bang for buck...

but like when comparing matching price lines with alpine vs pioneer for quality etc

pioneer TS-C1625 VS alpine Type S
pioneer yellow cones VS alpine Type R
pioneer premier TS-C720PRS VS alpine Type X

i still think pioneer takes the cake personally ... but go for brands like polk etc u can pick them up in ur price range too just shop around man
cheers kyle

i got some soundstream taranatula components a year ago but haven't actually put them in yet. Cost me $500 and they were a lot better than alpine type x. A fair bit of bass and reasonable clarity.

ahahaha i buy of the shelf...so far im running a full EPSILON system apart from my head unit...bot amps and my rear 6x9s are in the arachnid serries, but the splits and the subs are just alpha series...they have reccomended the "Precision Power DCX 124" subs for me to get competition class...but in doing that i will need to upgrade my head unit, and then possibly get another mono block amp...then ill shall be loud...

in bris its easy to get the epsilon gear cause its gold coast car sounds in house brand...but no where else does it...the amps are bloody powerful and look hot tooo...
