Yeah I like the BG (SP, not SOHC) and the BA equally. It's not every day that the body of a mazda car is designed by former Porsche people. I definitely would've looked into getting a BA if I had've had an extra 2 grand when I was buying.

The Porsche influence is under the skin in the suspension and the tuning of the V6.

^ really.
Wow, thats fantastic I knew something was up suspension wise for sure. Especially after a slight tweek, and a rear swaybar. Can i quote you on that? Its a nice thing to be able to say about ones car.

Mazda took the Lantis to Europe pre-release to have the chassis set up. Porsche whore their engineering skills to anyone who will pay. As for the Lantis V6 it's the only KF-ZE with 130kw, the rest of the KF-ZEs have 120kw. I've only found speculation about the engine tuneing.

My favourite 323 was the 1991-93 jap spec 3 door Mazda Familia GT.(BG8S)Not sold here in Australia but the body shape was imported used as the Familia GTX and GTR. I had it as a used import when i lived in NZ
I have owned 7 Mazda's over the last 15 years. My model was the 1.8 DOHC injected 3 door with all japanese options except heated seats. It had climate control, ABS, 2 way glass sunroof, full electrics , dual rear spoilers and was in mint condition when i got it(42000km) I found the entire service history + reciepts and original purchase documents + japanese manuals hidden in the glovebox when i bought it. From what i could find the jap spec model used a much more powerful engine than was used in the aus spec BG astina SP, from memory it red lined at 7250 rpm and cut out just short of 8000 rpm. It was a very fun car to drive and on the hills no other small hatch could keep up with it (eg Corolla GT, Civic SIR, Starlet Turbo, Pulsar. Unless it was a turbo model) They were rather rare in their time and I never saw another as well specified as mine was. I also had a 1988 Familia GTX limited which was the rare model they only sold about 500 of so they could rally them(Bigger intercooler + turbo) But by the time I had finished with that car it was only really any good for either a full rebuild or wrecking.. And a 1987 Mazda Etude, and a Mazda Eunos 500 Type R Manual. And a 1989 Eunos Roadster(MX5) Oh and my first car was a 1982 Mazda Familia XG with air con and electric sunroof. And now i have a 2002 Astina 1.8. So yeah you can say i like Mazda's |
