Need feedback!
Hey ladies and gentlemens...
I need some feedback on my website i've just built for my photography. If you could tell me this i'd be much appreciated! I'm not a web developer so its not perfectly built. But i'm a graphic design student, so its rather colourful haha 1. Is the website easy enough to use? 2. Can you use the home page easy, did you understand on where to click etc? 3. You clicked the Do not click button didn't you? 4. Does it please your eye? 5. What browser did you view it in? 6. Did huge ass ugly frames come up around images? (Apparently it does for firefox, someone confirm this please) 7. Did all the things you clicked on work? 8. Any suggestions? (Please note it's not completely finished and all the other pages will be more aesthetically pleasing soon to come.) http://www.bentaege.com |

Yeah the frames came up. If you want a hand with the code let me know
The page scales properly which is nice, you might wanna work on your directory structure. The site should be in the root directory (public_html most likely), images.html should be in the same directory as welcome.html (which should be index.htm really but no biggy). However the biggest thing is that teh design should flow from one page to the next. Each page should be fairly similiar. Different content pictures sure but the same basic layout for ease of use and for the proffesional look. One way to achieve all the above and have a proffessional style blog would be to use wordpress If the site is merely intended for hobby stuff then its fine as it is, if however you wanna go further you will need to invest some time to make it more proffessional and stylish (the style of website will in part reflect your audience). EDIT: Id prolly work on your sentence structure/wording to tbh, but thats just me being picky most likely i.e. "Ben is a photographer who has the creative passion and enthusiasm that reflects in his images." should be Bens passion and love of photography is clearly reflected and evident with in his work....

1. Yep
2. Yep 3. Yep :P 4. Yeah don't mind it, but answers 5&6 spoil it. 5. Firefox 5.0, Mac 6. Yep 7. Yep 8. As follows: - Needs some 'photographs by ben' branding on the lower pages. - Some consistency in terms of where the top navigation is would be good (it seems to move around a bit between different screens). - Also, there's two instances of 'photographs by ben' on the home page, which is redundant - Does it really need the top navigation on the home page when you've got the big text links on the LHS anyway? - "That’s my name" has a massive space after the apostrophe in "that's" I can stick up a screen capture if you want

It really really needs that line & dot thing at the top of the page gone. Waste of space and doesn't do anything for the design.
For some reason it comes up with a horizontal scroll bar on the home page at 1024x800 (netbook size) but theres no content to scroll over too. I'm not sure if its deliberate but every gallery page i open has a copy of the title image in the top right corner that gets overlapped by the actual title image. Looks pretty awful in places. This is on FF4, W7 at 1024x800.

The logo is also currently in re-design for my website, it works great on images however. So i will fix the double "Photographs by Ben" Fixed the space in the "That's" Thanks Rupe! Appreciated! Quote:
I've already been told about the text, gotta think of something witty to put there Iweb so far. I'm planning to make the design in iweb then save it so i can open in dreamweaver so i can add meta tags and some code etc. Because Dreamweaver is a Biatch to design in. Quote:
Should of fixed the Horizontal scroll bar.. Let me know? Not sure what you mean by the image that gets over lapped by a image....There is text on the gallery images if thats what you mean? |

1. Yes
2. Yes 3. No but I would've if not mentioned and will just for ****s 'n' giggles 4. No, personally I'd rather more contrast between some of the non photo grapics and the white space. You've used 'HOME' and 'WELCOME' to link to the front page, stick with one. The Blue arrow at the bottom right of the front page 'Heres some cool images' is the third link to the same location on the same page. Too many blue arrows and they all point elseware, the logo would be better on the top right than the top left. Blog should be more prominant than contact unless you'd rather people contact you than read your blog. 5. IE8 - Better interoperability with work stuff 6. No 7. Yes 8.

Why? I dunno ask iWeb :P
Honestly if i had to guess id look at making sure that you apply style="border:none;" to image tags or such. EDIT: lolz at iWeb. Included in the CSS is the property for img border: none; but no where do i see it using the class. The tag is actually applied to a few of the images however a local version of your site with the tag added to the few instances that doesnt have it fixed the problem for me

So site name: (What ever you want to call it) email: (Your email, thats if you only include a email button etc.) FTP server settings Server adress: ftp.youradressgoeshere.com (.au?) password: ******* (What ever your password is to logon to your host) Directory/path: public_html Protocol: FTP (port should be 21) Test the connection to see if it works.. If it doesn't either your adress or pw is wrong. website url: www.yoururlgoeshere.com |
