troubled 1990 sp
:?
hey all, can anyone advise me whther my astina sp 1990 model would suffer any electrical faults in the engine sysytem. the engine seems to choke or cough at about 2400rpm. i thought the clutch was on its way out , but when it "chokes" the revs drop , they dont rise, when im driving it gives the feeling that im bunnyhopping. could it be the o2 sensor? or any other inherent problem? any help would be great! How long since the spark plug leads have been changed? That would be the first thing I'd check out. It's a relatively common problem with our model...
Otherwise...air filter, fuel filter etc. But I'd almost bet money on plug leads, especially if they are old. Hope this helps! |

Keevers,
Follow 93SP's advice. The next step is the expensive one, it could be the ignition module if it same in all gears or the air flow meter if mainly under acceleration. Go the 93SP route first as if it isn't the cause they are due anyway. Rod
