Air intake length

How would it effect the current performance of my ride if I had to lengthen the air intake pipe.iow the pipe between the filter and intake manifold.
I need to move my cone filter to get cooler air to it and I need to know how wild I can go. :lol:

I read somewhere that if you lenghthen the intake pipe between filter and manifold , it will affect top end and visa versa if you shorten it hmmmm

any comments on that one ?

Yeah i read similar to you man :P ,the intake pipe length is designed specifically to the type of engine,so personally i wouldnt go lengthening it :wink:
There is 1 guy on here with a BA Astina that has lengthened his so the pod sits pretty much down behind the front bar,think its White pony throw him a PM and see what he says :wink:

Longer is better, the issue was more pertinant in carbie set-ups, the longer the intake runner the more chance that fuel would be deposited on the walls of the manifold in low speed applications.
With your injectors at the mouth of the inlet valve the length of your piping shouldn't (within reason) be an issue.

We are talking about the distance from the throttle body to the MAF
aren't we and not the actual intake runner length. I dont think you
should have a problem as with the Turbo's the IC piping length varies
a bit between say Dan's, Tony's and mine yet all function fine. If you
imagined the IC piping being made into a straight line the setups
with front mount IC's are probably double that of the stock setup with
the IC inside the passenger guard. So you changing the length of
a NA by no more than a metre shouldn't be a big problem. I think you
may have more problems trying to extend the wiring for the MAF to
the inner guard.
