Sp20 2001 headlight removal

I herd you had to remove the bumper to get the headlights out, Is this a joke or is it true. Any help would be gladly appreciated

its true... suckss but the bumper isnt to hard to take off, nothing much is holding it onnn just dont break the clips near the side of the headlight where part of the bumper sits in.

yer need to take the front bar off as there are two lower bolts that hold the headlight in. plus need to be extremly carefull as there are clips on the side of the headlight that connect to the bumper if they snap u get the dreaded bumper sag

You can do it with the bumper half on, but that only leaves about 4 bolts and makes it a lot harder than just taking it off.

Is that the same with all BJIIs? I've got an Astina here I want to change the assemblies on.

Also curious if SP20 headlights work in Astinas? Or do they need the different bumper?

The sedan (Protege) and hatch (Astina) are exactly the same at the front, for SP20s, and the 1.8s are the same as each other. The SP20 has two bulbs for high and low where the 1.8 has one bulb for both, other than the wiring they're a bolt on fit.
