Yeah just everytime he orders/gets the wrong part the timer stops and has to start again when he gets the right part.

Depends on who you ask.

A good UDP is fine as the assembly itself is balanced rather well.

On our cars there fine. They shorten life potentially but honestly, how many kilometres do you expect the engine to last?

well i havent really thought about how many kms I'd like to have the engine last.. but hey i cant see why it would last 50 000 - 80 000kms hey. unless i put a piston out the block haha..

Then a UDP will be fine.

The nay sayers base there arguement on the fact that early UDPs caused cavitation in the waterpump or oil pumps leading to premature failure.

The approach I took was, to assume that the naysayers are correct and asses the draw backs and benefits. The conclusion that I came to from some research and logic is:

Since the first pulleys, the manufacturing has gotten better but engines are also balanced alot better then they used to be. Some people believe that early pulleys would warp due to heat as they were primarily made of light metals. On built engines which have been balanced to tolerances that far exceed manufacturer tolerances, I believe at any rate the consequences of running the pulley to be negligble.

It may mean a shorter life (again assuming there right), but the reality is that if you only really expect to get 100k from the engine before you do a freshen up the chances are slim that anything will occur. The potentials there but I personally thought the benefits out weighed the downfalls of running it.

I would say however that your money maybe spent better in other places. I wont discount that the pulley is hard to remove when in the Car but personally I think the 200 dollars could be better utilised at this stage. (i.e. money towards ecu, exhaust, registration etc.)

na i ordered a BPD 80 amp alternator yesterday. why is that??

no on a random note. is it just me or does anyone else here have that issue when you go buy paint to paint one or two parts (just to clean things up) and then get the urge to start painting heaps of things and before you know it u have painted everything u can think of haha..

WELL i had one of those arvo's yesterday hahaha just wanted to paint a few little parts just to clean up the engine bay and before you know it i have sanded my cusco strut tops and strut brace (as the blue paint was pealing BADLY) and re-painted them. but here is the kicker. i painted them RED to match the rest of the colour skeme of the car. i will be trying to source cusco stickes sso the still look the goods BUT just red in colour rather than blue.

Can you throw some pics up when you get the trigger wheel installed.
All the previous shots of your oil pump and sensor setup have been really helpful.

painting them red means you turned them into autoexe ones.

i have the original cusco stickers somewhere in the garage. you get 2 per product, but i've only ever used one per product.

yer that wont be for a while untill i get my suspention bushes done.. will have to get my ass into gear and do them soon while the motor is out..

OW also not sure if i mentioned this before but i have dropped off my VF8 turbo and VJ20 exhaust houseing to my mate to get machined. the VF8 turbo has a 47mm exhaust wheel and the vj20 has a 44mm exhaust wheel so naturally you have to get the exhaust houseing machined just that little bit to make the VF8 turbo fit. i will also be porting the WG as much as i can and welding on the VF8 WG flapper too to maximize the hole size i can go to for the WG..

should get that back in the next week or so i Hope.

Update time..

So as many of you already know i have hit a little snag with my build. dew to me using a series 1 BP block ive had to use a series 1 BP water pump. NOW to my delight last night i found out the the series 1 BP water pump doesnt have the locating bolt hole for the bracket that allows the alternator to be adjusted... So no im hunting for a series 1 BP DOHC engine mount bracket which came out of a BPT or a BP BG astina or a tx3 if i recall corectly.

anyway here is how she sits atm.

Don't you love that fuel rail. It's even better since they aren't being made any more, I wouldn't be surprised if you and I have the only two in Brisbane. Also don't forget that it's a duel feed set up. When I first installed mine I just did fuel into one end and out the other. It riched out the cylinders 3 & 4 as they were first in line for fuel and got too much. Fouled my plugs and ruined my idle until I realised my mistake and hooked it up with dual flow in and single out that top bung. You're also gonna need a 90deg adapter for the outlet as a normal connector fouls the throttle body.
