Drove my car through the Clem7 tunnel tonight for a couple of hours.

I drove every single ramp (and some of them twice )!

Around midnight it was full of sightsee-ers puttering along at 50 km/h. That is what is going to cause accidents

It will be really interesting tomorrow, during the commute

Oh its open woot, time for a drive

UPDATE: After about 6 runs through the tunnels its bloody awesome and yes all the idiots doing 50 in the 80 zone will be a potential hazard

Most interesting entrance is from shafston avenue, i can see a few bingles round that loop

BE WARNED, there are speed cameras all over the place

From the clem7 website:

Travelling under the Brisbane River the 6.8km CLEM7 connects Bowen Hills in the North to Woolloongabba or Kangaroo Point in the South.

If you have a Tag it will beep as you travel through the CLEM7 tolling gantry during this toll free period, however accounts will not be charged the toll. A $0 trip will appear on the on the account.

This toll free period will be followed by a 5 week period when the tunnel will be toll free between midnight and 5:00am and tolls will be discounted by 30% for the remainder of the day.

Currently free and the toll will progressively be introduced over the next few months.

There are four speed cameras in each direction. Don't bother looking for them, they look like everything other black box on the ceiling. They can move around within the tunnel and there is no signage as to their exact location - only signage is at each of the portal/ramp entrances.

they made a tunnel in liverpool (UK) about 150 years ago (oppend 1840s) and its 2.5 kms long and runs about 5m under the river. its still there.. its just a tunnel
have a look here
there is also the Channel Tunnel which is 50kms long and runs from britan to france which was opened in the 90s
this isnt the 1st nor the longest tunnel that runs under any body of water
wiki article

that being said i will go for a free drive thru this one as soon as i get some free time, im so damn swamped at uni atm

Not on your life for what those tires cost from what ive been told, they would chop mah left testie off.

bad enough i "drift" the Triton any chance i get. Skinny wheels + heaps of torque + any dirt or rain = ^_^

annoyingly hard to start on purpose, bastard only slips when your actually trying to get into traffic or some such.
