I couldn't get to work this morning. Access road had about 30m wide lake over it.

Just come back from digging a 20m long trench to stop the neighbours yard from flooding.

The mountain out the back has a massive yet beatiful fall cascading down it.

I have been home since 10.30 this morning, work basically said to go home due to flood levels rising rapidly... Its suppose to peak around 19m between 12pm & 2pm, and its pretty farking scary!!

Unfortunately Tashs parents got the full force of that full force of water yesterday, they lost there new 6ft fence, 2x 8000L tanks, garden shed full of stuff, power tools in the car garage & also Tashs mums 05 Sportivo Corolla The water was around 50cm from the top of the deck!!!

Oh, and 1 of the tanks were located, 4km in the middle of town!!!

My job hunting focus group got sent home as well at about 11am. I had to sprint through heavy rain, dove in the car and ... nothing. no dash lights, no central locking, no start. had to mess around under the bonnet, got 100% soaked and finally started the bastard. Then was crossing bridges with rivers right under them on the way to carseldine. this is scary.

Pretty much everyone near the 5 million water ways in T'ba really should have flood insurance...at least her parents place was up high. Most new houses built are just on low concrete slabs these days.

So this is what I took this afternoon in Ipswich

Our frontyard & neighbours driveways:

Ian Boettcher Motors @ Bundamba - 3kms down the road from us:

Marsden Parade in Ipswich - I park on this street daily!!

The Bremer River from Riverlink Shopping Centre carpark:

Closeup of the Riverheart Parklands from the same spot:

Where all of Ross Llewellyn's Toyota's, Holdens, Suzuki's & Hyundai stock ended up - in the Girls Grammar School tennis courts!!

And out of all of this, cause I work so close to the Bremer River in Ipswich, I have been told there is no work till possibly Friday!!

Cheers
Marc

That's crazy how only the tip of those light poles are poking out of the water.

We have been told to stay out of the city until at least Friday. I suspect that they will just write the rest of the week off though and get everyone to come back on Monday
