oops I've done it again..

Hello

Having been too busy, its been ages since I last checked in..

But in that time, I have managed to acquire a BG SP in red..
Actually I pick it up on Wednesday, but like the BA hatch, I have always had a soft spot for this model. Of course I would have preferred it in white, however...beggars...choosers etc..

So begins another chapter..pretty chuffed ..she's not pristine and has been to the moon and back, but glad to have secured her..Decent straight ones ones are pretty thin on the ground..

Long trip home,, anything I should be watching out for?

Well we made it the distance without drama.. but then again, it is a Mazda..

Upon inspection...front end paint was way rougher than I was expecting but I negotiated the price to reflect this.

The body is overall quite tired but chassis wise straight. The rear is shiny but had some poor repairs...the middle section ok.. the front paint condition is actually very very poor. ad will need several weekends work to recover...

The good:

Most mechanical .
Engine is soooooooo sweet and tight as are all the other major mechanicals
ie perfect gearbox, clutch and cv's, cooling system almost new..
Chassis very straight .....
Interior sortable
Drives and steers a straight course.
No smoke/oil use
throaty exhaust
No leaks
Pulls like a trooper
Steering sharp as...
SP seats 75% (driver's worn)
$5k spent last few years

The not so good:

Front end paint is bat pee affected.
Slight front end damage affecting headlight recess
rust top of windscreen
Sunroof sticky.
Driver's e-window mech NS. (wont go up without assistance)
Grubby carpet and headlining
patchy shockers..rear OK ..front not so good..unreassuring.
brakes very ordinary...
Driver's seat worn and right bolster collapsed.
instrument cowling is dust!!!
custom exhaust noise ..is noisy over long distance

So overall it's typical of a 300k Mazda.

As indicated above she will need paint work on the front end as well as rust attention to top of windscreen that I can handle..front shocks and brakes..

Managed 7l/100 @ 110 with poke on tap..nice result!

So about this new addition to my fleet ...first red car since my old Alfa Sud!!!
