BG Headlights, yet another crazy idea....
So ive been thinking of a few new ideas since the porjector idea went abit south...along with the rest of the car...so Ive been thinking of revamping the headlights so i can get the projectors in....my new idea:
It will either be similar to the setup above or i will fabricate a half complete acute triangle (Ill post up measured designs when i do em!) that holds either H4, H7 or H3. (Simliar to a SP20 setup). This too will also incorporate the sleepy eye effect so instead of the light being fully open it will either be fully open or 1/2 open...otherwise i will take out the light motors and keep them 1/2 open all the time What do you guys think, i reckon its doable seeing that alot of the MX-5 peeps achieve it easily.... John

easy as john, same as the headlights i posted up about a month ago. mx5s, starions, truenos or other 80s sports cars have had this done to them at some stage in the past 20 years. the hardest thing would be getting the angle of the light beam correct to illuminate the road safely.

I believe there are controllers available for the Nissan 180sx that allow in cabin control of how open they are, or arent. maybe one of those could be retrofitted to the Astina?

different hks...as when we do sleep eyes on these they dont shine streaight out...its mainly down...so when this gets done he will need to make the bracket to make the headlight vertical...wontbe too hard..just alotof stuffing around

The 180 ones keep the electrics intact, when you turn the lights on, they still rise to normal (stock) height.
when turned off they drop to half height (sleepy) I'm just thinking if the lights still go up and down there wont be any bother with aim, or changing the angle of the lens.

I havent had the time today to draw up a design for my second more crazy idea but i will get around to it 2morrow nite.... I already have the sleepy head light conversion done to the Astina and as Bourb found out today there are little stoppers that can be adjusted to stop the lense from closing all the way, this however is not what i want, i want either Closed/ Half Open or Always Half Open. Either way it should be east to do, im just sick of the dam things really...

What about some halo style headlights? had a quick look on google and found these beauties for the 180sx, but theres nothing saying you cant fibreglass some up to suit??
heres a pic for interests sake Also I can remember in one Autosalon Magazine they did a diy into making them for there MX5 promo car, so it shouldnt be too hard... Cheers Marc

those miata ones look good but do you have the bonnet slope to use them? or will you be doing 100% custom surround?
