Question 1996 V6 Astina

Can anyone suggest where in Sydney Metro I can got to get a Turbo Kit for my 1996 V6 Astina.

Also what are the pit falls of doing this modification, has anyone had any experience with this.

Kind regards

A performance workshop will be able to help you, once you convince them you're serious.

There's no off the shelf kit anymore that will fit. There used to be kits in the US for the MX-6 and Ford Probe, but from memory they were always a bit hit and miss.

You'd be better off with a 2.5L KL-ZE V6 from a JDM MX-6 which has 200hp as standard. With some extractors/exhaust and some air/fuel mods, you'll get a reliable and quick car.

As Above.

most workshops - Not only will not want to do such work because they know soon as you see the disapointing results in terms of figures. You will question where all the money went.
Smart workshop will tell you go buy a Turbo or V8 or even just a more powerfull car in the first place.

As Said the only real option is a conversion to a KLZE- 2.5Lt and even then you might not be happy or want more.

The only real good FI induction kits are for the 2.5L moslty KL-DE and Superchargeres were most proven and fitted to some ZE's but IMO those who do the ZE conversion then build it turbo - could have done so to a KL-DE as the ZE advanatge on turbo is not that great IMO.
Without substantial investment

The Astina KF - is lacking alot of capacity. Supercharging helps but When both Automatic
30X and 323 Astina's can't match older SOHC 4cylinder cars with auto slush box's it shows how much they miss in capacity.

The Probe guys really did well with the superchargers. But it only puts you line ball with standard off the shelf turbo car of the same era.

Probably better off losing the V6 and going BPT, keeping the 5-stud setup with the bigger brakes and whatnot as a good base for a performance build.
