Suspension problems *cry*
Hi guys,
Well you all know how much I love my car and those that have seen it would know I had it lowered (king spring super lows). Since I had it lowered in early April 2004 its had a rattle so 2 weeks ago I took it to Fulcrum for an idea of whats happening. Apparently it was just coil chatter (the coils were hitting each other when compressed) so the guy at fulcrum just put a rubber piece between each coil (all for free) but while he was looking at it he noticed my rear springs had actually slipped off their 'seats'. Apparently this is something he's noticed a few times on the BJ Astina - King Springs had never engineered a spring for the BJ and were using the old model astina design therefore they weren't sitting properly and a bump can just knock it off it's spot. Anyways long story short Fulcrum offered to replace my springs with a NZ designed set but promised me that it won't sit any higher and would ride smoother. And they offered me all this for free. Ok so all great right - and trust me this isn't a rant against fulcrum! They were great! I got all this work done on Monday and drove her home thinking great fantastic I'm happy. But when I get home I have a proper look and she's riding high - nearly at standard height! But only at the rear - the front end is still on the old kings and riding sweet. So now my back end is up in the air. The guys at Fulcrum have offered to shorten my shocks and put my old kings back on - which of course I don't want 1. it's illegal (shortening shocks) and 2. i'm wanting to sell my car in the future. So my other option is to go for a completely new suspension set up... I'm currently riding on 18s and so need to be low - it looks awful at the moment I just feel like crying when I see her. What are your thoughts on Eibach? Are they good? Where can I get them? Who will fit them? Any other suggestions? Thanks Sally PS Sorry it's such a long story ... |

I would go back tell them its sitting higher, and I want my money back! or install a new set of springs all around(front and rear) because the actual ones werent made for the car! Tell them You`re willing to upgrade and pay a bit extra if they dont agree to install new spings all around.
Also, I would stand there and watch them do it if I were you! so they dont screw up again! |

hmmm....must look like a funny car!!!
trhe only catrs that look cool woth such a setup is yankees! 8) gotta love a 67 mod camaro, with low front, high ass, and rims the same proportion as toiletpaper rolls!  in ur case, i would do what mentioned above, or have them put in the price of the set u had, and u pay the diff between that and some eibach springs(wich is top of the line in europe, i have the same steel in my springs, but different brand.... still the same though...), and some yellow ajustable Konis! good luck! grim

what they told you about king springs is a load off bull**** [ you can check the web site 4 urself an see the different models an part no's ]
the reason they would be not sitting rite is because there super lows an if you have gone off a gutter or steep places maybe a big pothole the spring is lose while the suspension is at full lengh so there for fallsout off its cradle [base] just go back get them to put urs back in ,get sum heavy duty cable ties an put 2 on the bottom off each ciol an too ur cradle [base] you will have no prods

Ok thing is - fulcrum have my old super lows. So what can I do? They refuse to put them back in and won't give them to me unless I give them back the ones they put in. I've only got one car so how can I do this? They're at Moorooka and I'm at Albany Creek so I don't know what to do. But I've got to do something .. this height is ridiculous!

got any stocky springs lying around? go back there, get them to give back your current ones, put the stock ones in and take theirs out.
find another suspension joint, or just get someone who's mechanically minded to put the superlows back it.. shouldn't take too long..

I would do that but one of my stock springs is currently with Fulcrum - they're using it as a design basis for their new BJ spring.
ARGH sometimes I just want to give up and sell my little car  |

Crap, believe however you can request your spring back, I mean just tell them you aren't happy with the service you have recieved and either they
( a ) Put the kings back in, ( b ) Or give you back your stock springs and put them back in... They might just give up and put the kings in, tell them your fully aware of any legal implications, and prefer to take that risk.

I think shock has the answer. If Fulcrum are being nancies then have them put the stockies in, wish them a nice day and take your kings back.
It's unfortunate but sometimes even with the best intentions things just fall in a heap.

Can I please stipulate that this is NOT a flame against Fulcrum! They have done excellent work and have done all they can to help me and will continue to do so. I have spoken to the manager today and I will let you all know what happens in the future!

if there doing the rite thing why dont they put ur kings back in , they r not responsible as they did not supply them,
as the customer they should be doing wat you tell them as the customer is always rite ,as for refusing when you own the product , consumer affairs , mta will straighten them out

Ok update is ... my old kings have been sent back to King Springs already. Fulcrum are going to get them back in and then I have to decide what to do.
I will most likely take my old kings and get someone else to put them back in. Thanks for all the help guys and I will keep you updated. |
