Newbie SP20 owner from Sydney :)

Hi all I just bought my first car, it's a grey Mazda 323 Astina SP20, the car itself has done a fair few km's but for the price I paid I'm extremely happy with it, it's a manual and I plan on learning with it, my cousin taught me how to drive a manual no joke the week before I bought the car and now I'm driving by myself, just do me a favour and if you're behind me on a hill give me about two metres coz i tend to roll back a fair bit hahaha oh and I can't legally drive my car until i get my greens which is about 3 weeks away :) if you see a grey 323 SP20 around the five dock area in Sydney give me a yell, pics to come soon :)

hahaha thanks all and yer mark im glad i did hey, as for future plans I'm taking Marks advice which was to fit a CAI and an exhaust system, before that this saturday the cars gonna get a full service to fix up the brakes and after that now that I have the money I'm going to pay my insurance lol and tomorrow my rego transfer stuff but in regards to mods I want to install a pair of HIDs on the car mainly so I can see better at night, I understand that there are two popular colours 4300K and 6000K I'm not really sure how to go about choosing some though, but I'm yet to search the forum properly for ideas or get some opinions from my mates, then I want my stereo put in from my mums car (yes i got way to geed i bought a sub, amp and head unit and my cousin installed literally days after I got my p's hahaha) that shouldn't cost me anything because it's what my cousin does, and I'm really happy how good a job he does and then later down the track I want to chuck some lower springs on it and maybe different rims undecided on the rims tho. so yer cant wait :)

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/forum.php all your hid questions will be answered here, i would go with 4300K as they produce more useable light and after having both plug+play kits and projector retrofits the projector retrofits are the better option but are a lot more involved

what makes you say that, why are they better? to be honest all I'm after is something with more light than stock and probably something I might be able to do myself, i just managed to change the globes in my mums car, took me like 2 hours lol, does anyone know what bulbs the 02 Astina uses? thanks

sim08u 08-02-2012 01:07 PM

ok i just read through the whole manual, and couldn't for the life of me tell what bulbs my mazda uses, does anyone know? thanks

You'll have to link or use a different site if you want most people to be able to actually see the photos though :p

H7 is the low beam bulb for SP20s. If you want info on the lights google for Protege5. That's the amercan version of your car and has the same light setup.

sim08u 08-02-2012 03:55 PM

yer thought as much I did that and one site come up with H4's and another H7's lol and yer links didn't work :( lol ah well another qn some of the ones on ebay are dual beams (HI/LO) how will this work on an SP20, because they have two seperate bulbs for HI and LO? thanks

Clean_Cookie 08-02-2012 04:43 PM

H4 are the combo ones...which you don't one

mynameisdaniel 08-02-2012 04:49 PM

This is what you want. Just remember you get what you pay for. A $300 Philips kit will warm up faster, be a LOT brighter and be much more reliable than the cheapest thing I could find on eBay ;)
