Clutch pedal mounting bracket
 

Just put a new clutch in my recently acquired $300 V6 Astina. Felt like the pedal wasn't fully disengaging so went to adjust the rod between pedal and M/C and found the pedal mount flexing.

Appears to be bolted to the firewall as well as to a mount under the dash, but the mount under the dash appears to flex quite alot.

Keeping in mind that as a 40+ year old worn out mechanic I am no longer enough of a contortionist to get my both hands in there and also see what I am doing at the same time.
Does this mount have a history of failing?
Is there a practised fix for it?
