What I think I'll do is rotate the rear wheels - which have heaps of tread - to the front, and then put the ebay cheapies on the back. Then I'll fix up the originals and get new tyres on them, and put them on the front, then fix up the other originals, and voila.
I've been driving pretty sedately recently anyway, bit annoyed at not getting any more than 450 to a tank. So with them just on the back wheels and grannying I don't think it should be a major issue...
