BA Boot lid Garnish (not the reflector)
WHAT IS THIS CALLED haha. And where can I get a new one.
[ Far out. When I bought my astina this was already cracked... among other things. So I bought another astina that wasnt running to take parts out of. Last night I decided to try and replace that black led bar whatever its called. I discovered that not only is it INCREDIBLY difficult to unmount but its also INCREDIBLY BRITTLE long story short, I now have no led black bar thingy and I would like one that wont shatter when I breathe on it. did you try to remove the whole thing first before trying to remove the brake light? it looks to me the light is mounted from underneath with screws

I'd call it a high level brake light garnish and ring around wreckers in your area. Be prepared to say 'you know the one above the hatch window' a lot.

When you do find one and go to remount it pay particular attention to the rubber strip top front of the garnish. Also dont, whatever you do, drop one of the mounting nuts into the metalwork. They can be incredibly hard to fish out.

there's also a lot of clips that hold this in place... is it not possible to get to the clips from underneath?

There is three bolts spaced evenly across with two plastic pins on each end.
You need to access the three main bolts from underside hatch. You can then use a plastic/fiberglass panel removal tool or whatever to lightly pop the panel upwards. |
