1997 323 Astina, No High Beam

Hello,
I have a 1997 323 Astina 1.8 which I recently purchased. It has 69,000 on the clock. Unfortunately the High Beam doesn't work, although the inside headlights and dash high beam light come on when I hit the pass position on the stalk. Cant find any High Beam specific fuse or relay. All other fuses seem to be ok. I doubt its the stalk switch assembly as it seems too tight and new.

Any Ideas

Thanks in advance.

Roby

if you switch the highbeams on, and the blue light inside lights up, than the stalk works. the relay/fuze is in the engien bay. if they are ok check the lights them selfs

Nope no light

No blue indicator on the dash when the stalk is in the high beam position only when pulled forward to the pass position. There is no headlight specific fuse or relay that I can see in the fuse box in the engine bay.

Have you checked the bulbs? You haven't actually mentioned that

Bulbs

Bulbs seem ok as I get allot of illumination when I use the pass position. Just that is difficult to drive like that for extended periods! I am thinking of replacing all the bulbs with high intensity bulbs mentioned in other posts as I live in a rural area and the stock units are not really confidence building. Cheers Rob

BTW found this site particularly useful already! Thanks for taking the time to make it so!

go the HID direction out in rural area, probly around 4300K for maximum light output for dark areas

Sounds like it is in the stalk. Maybe some dirty connectors and just needs a good clean?
