changing the dashlight colours

i have a 2002 kq ford laser and i have bought a few sets of the light covers to change the dash lights, but because the dash is normally green the lights cannot really be changed much.
how am i able to change the clour that shines through the speedo/tacho etc dials. do the dials have a green backing or is there something i have to remove to take the green out of the lighing?
any help is apreciated.
