Timing Belt on Series 1 Astina
Hey guys
My car is a 1994 BA Series 1 Hatch I recently went to a mate who has been a mechanic for 9 years now and specializes in repairing Honda's. He had a look at my car's timing belt and said that it needed to be changed, my car has done 133,000kms, and me the total novice i agreed and said okay lets do it. He said it would cost $250, so i agreed and thought that was a reasonable price, but when he came to fix it he found one of the bearings needed replacement, so he said that the bearings would cost an extra $160. Does this sound write to you, i feel like that's a bit to expensive? Any replies would be greatly appreciated Thanks again |

$350 would be a good price for a full timing belt kit replacement.
2 hours labour @ $85ish per hour = $170 $180 timing belt kit = belt + idler bearing + tension bearing as your car has done that many km. then do the water pump at the same time, it is behind the timing belt. probably a $500/$550 at that stage. |
