I sold it since i bought a BP powered Roadster and thought it wasnt worth the swap...looking at V6s instead...not sure if swap or buying another car wiuld be the way to go though...

you're in for a lot of work if you want to put in the V6... the crossmember is different, and so are many other parts

in order to meet TUEV standards, you must do full conversion in the engine bay, suspension, and brakes

you're far better off with a BP swap.... there's only a few other things to be made afterwards to make the car legal, such as direct swap of the larger brakes from the BP/1.9l car

I know. Its not about that though. If i look at it like that, i can just leave the Z5 in there since its really running great. The difference between Z5 and BP ist not too big and i'm now really more after the smoothness and sound of the V6...and the option of the KL is also a nice one to look forward to. So i dont know yet what im gonna do, for now ive just rediscovered my love for this car and just want to drive it a bit more :-)

This was on club 323f wasnt it? I followed your earlier exploits on AGT as well. It was around 2006 iirc.

you may think that, but the BP is a much more powerful motor and has greatly more potential of producing more power than stock.... forget the specs, they aren't really factual... let's just say mazda overrated the Z5 and underrated the BP

besides, there are far more parts for the BP and the BP is a much stronger engine than the Z5... the Z5 have a weak valvetrain, and in fact mazda actually issued a recall for the very early Z5 engines for broken valve springs!

the fact remains that a Z5 powered 323 is slow and the BP makes it much more tolerable... I don't know about you, but if I lived in germany, I'd like to have a car that can go faster than 200km/h

Ok, let me clarify: I like the BP a lot, i have it in my MX5 Roadster and its great, currently sitting like this:

So i know about the potential and its a good fit for the Roadster. Howeer, for the BA, i just dont want it any more since the K-series really is the way to go for me - so smooth and sounding like the sex If i decide on keeping the car i'll definetly swap in a KL at some point At the moment i have to sort out a few other things though...

I think your jenvey'd up mx5 would sound like 'the sex' too! I'm getting there slowly with my setup...the only sound you can hear at the moment is my wallet complaining.

So, there's news - funny how faith finds its way. Due to bad cold start/idle i did a compression test on Thursday and was surprised to see this:

So it looks like the car wants a BP after all ^^
Luckily, a mate whose car was crashed into last year, still hasnt sold it yet, so i might acquire this:

Would keep my transmission and light flywheel, since the EU 1.8 really has a uselessly long gear ratio.
More mods (exhintake, MX5 injectors) might follow later, for now it'd be interesting to know if you guys can recommend a header/exh. manifold for the BP.
Is there one that fits PnP?

all headers should be PnP. but wouldn't know what to recommend for a eu supplier.

What are "all" headers?
OBX and Pacesetter only list the Ford Escort/Laser GT 1.8 but no Mazda. Dont know if they would line up with my Mazda exhaust system.

all as in all makes.

if the escort/laser GT ones are for kf/kh model, then they are what you are looking for.

design from 90-98 didn't vary between mazda and ford that i'm aware of. cannot confirm for eu.

Thanks for the info, will look into that!

In addition, there is good news and bad news.
Bad news: Yesterday i ripped off my right hand side skirt (including the paint underneath) when parking - really dont know how that happened but the car is far too low in the front, so i also ordered new KAW springs (again ^^).

On a happier note, these just arrived - perfect timing as a birthday present from myself
