BP Turbo conversion

Hey guys (and girls),

I am thinking about putting a BP Turbo in my BG. I have a few questions needing answers before I do anything silly but. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

I saw in a few AutoTraders you can get a "half-cut" Mazda BP Turbo for $1800. What is a half-cut?

Does anyone have any idea how much a complete conversion would cost including labour, more parts eg. clutch and whatever necessary?

Has anyone done this to a BG in here?

Thanks heaps.....
Adam

formaz offer a drive in drive out conversion for around 5K which includes basically everything. Very good deal for a standard conversion with standard ecu.

Turbo Mazda is a shining example of a BPT powered BG.

1800 is good price for a bpt halfcut. I paid 2200.

Cheers guys. So a half cut is literally the car cut in half!? $5000 sounds alright... You hear more about this conversion in the near future.

Generally they cut the car from the dash back. Some wreckers will include the gearbox, some wont (check this).

This is a BPT halfcut

Sweet man. The only problem is I am in Perth.

Early days yet though, I need to sum everything up and see if it would be worth doing. So yous reckon about $5000 would prabably be a decent estimate? What do you guys thing I would be looking at?

Mate, I think someone's selling a complete engine including looms etc on Ford Laser.com in Perth, maybe they could hook you up with a fitter.

$5000 drive in drive out seems to be pretty much the norm if you are doing a straight replacement with no engine mods as such.

Would anything different have to be done if I have only a single cam. As opposed to converting a twin cam?

Maybe (at a stretch) engine mounts, but I don't think you would have to.

If it were the 1.6 like mine then yes, you'd need more for the upgrade.
