Leaking fluids

Howdy everyone:

Two problems... One: My gearbox fluid is leaking out through the gear selector shaft. The rubbers there dont exist so every time I change gears it pulls out a bit more. It hasent lost much yet, but it is not something I want to keep up.

Second one: Looking under my steering wheel at the shaft that comes out of the steering wheel, it is coated in power steering fluid. I cannot explain this as I havent actually lost any fluid out of the resivior.

I know how to fix the oil leak but im not entierly sure whats going on with this power steering fluid. Would anyone in the brisbane area be able to come give it a look maybe give me an idea of whats going on?

Thanks
Ian

take your car to j&s autocare at brendale and get them to have a really good look over it. just drop my name to either joseph or steve and they'll look after you good.

if you're wondering what quals they had - they both did their apprenticeship through grand pricks mazda and know mazdas inside out

I had my car checked at J&S less then two weeks ago. Service and full checkup. They didnt notice this, and according to there checklist, they didnt check it either. Some of the fluid here is very old, it looks like a small leak at the top of the poll that turns when the steering wheel turns, and that the stuff on the bottom is from when the steering wheel has turned allowing it to ooze out at the one point and coat the whole thing as it spins.

I am disapointed they didnt notice it.

Add this to the 300 dollar plug they raped me on and im thinking there reputation is not earned. Still, they seem to know mazdas through and through and when they do a job they *probobly* do it well, but so far im 450 bucks down to them and all they have done is change the consumables on the car and put one plug in, so I havent actually seen them do anything I could judge them on worksmanship wise.

Ian this isn't a bash against you
Just an open Question
People pay more for a better house
they pay meore for a better car
they pay more for a better TV
They pay more for a better brand of soap

But they want cheap labour for work on their second biggest investment
You will get what you pay for

I used to take my car to Chapman and Chapman in Buranda 5 yrs ago and it used to cost me over $200 for a service back then

Joseph and steve arent that dear (quite good actually)
They could charge more in my opinion

No body minds paying top dollar for a service, bats, seems like Ians' issue is one most of us face at one time or other, getting billed top dollar for fark all result. You drop someone half a grand and they somehow miss the fact half your fluids aren't in the engine but in the driver footwell, you would be ****ty.

Hard to reconsile a $450 bill with an invoice 3 pages long reading checked/inspected or looked at.
