Turbo before AutoSalon

Hi All,
Since we be talking about AutoSalon so much, I want to be in it under the AGT banner in Decemeber.

So... I have money and I better start buying bits, or I will go and spend it on something else, like my rear brakes! (which wont make much difference) or sound system (Even though I think the standard one is good for me).

Now.. where do I start, I am thinking I get an intercooler next? I have the GT4 Turbo (CT26 Twin Entry) already.

After the intercooler, what else can/should i just buy? (not talking about making manifold/down pipes/exhaust yet)

whats step 2 or should I not get the intercooler yet?

Are you going to turbo your NA or buy the GTX motor I forget.
The bits to buy are Intercooler, BOV, Clutch and ECU. You can also
do a cat back exhaust ready for the turbo. The rest is done when
the motor comes out.

be careful and dont rush it - you might end up with a car that isnt ready to show at all

take the time to hunt and find a really really good half cut

I cant do the exhaust, as I will prob need a 3" for Turbo, and that will be too big for NA? ECU I am thinking Halteck E6X, but is there any point installing without Turbo? Wont it need to be rewired with extra MAP sensors?

Clutch I can get done.

3" exhaust will work on NA. will suck, but will still work. wont stop you from getting from A to B.

ecu - it's just a matter of playing with the fuel and timing and your done. you only need 1 MAP sensor.

Aftermarket computer would be a given if you want it to run properly. You can install it on the N/A but you'll need to get it retuned when you fit the turbo.

What about injectors? I would find out what size the stock injectors and find out what bigger ones would fit if the stockos are too small......or at least fit a rising rate fuel regulator.

You don't really need injectors on the BJ until you're over 10-12psi I believe, they shouvle in heaps of fuel already...

well, not chasing big, power, but the plan is:
* get a manifold that will fit onto the garret turbo later, right now make it fit the ct26
* exhaust should be the same for the future
* the haltech e6x should be retunable for new turbo/internals
* the piping should be reusable mostly with intercooler

sounds pretty realistic Anton is making 125 kw at the wheels of 6 or 7 psi boost and thats in a 1.8 so you should be able to make another 5 or 10 kw on top of that. Keep us posted and good luck with it all.

Noted.

Also there was mention about clutch? Is this something that has to be done? Or can I stay with standard (+love&care) to save money tilll after autosalon?

the standard BA 1.8 injectors are good for 200kw atw so i'd imagine the BJ ones would be much the same

as for clutch, you'd be better off with a heavy duty one of some sort

dont go over the top with an intercooler. you loose power (as they arent efficient) and you increase turbo lag.

ok, intercooler size I should have tomorrow.
I think I will leave the clutch till after AutoSalon, Turbo Timer will be later as well.

Will get in touch with Doug about install of a Haltek E6X.

Any suggestions on places that make manifolds/piping?
