Those Hybrid ones are only like $280 now i think. You won't need a 600mm one as they are 3" thick. The 400x300 jobbie will do the job and will making fitting much easier.

Note: The one on my car is 600x300.

Just a thought, if I do the internals etc later, will the 400mm cooler be big enough?

how much power would you be chasing if you end up putting forged internals in your car

they've got a lot more than that (270whp+)! And I'm pretty sure they use a 600x300x76mm FMIC, which fits in behind the SP20 bar with minor modification.

ahhh, 200wkW probably is a little closer, but I think Doug has even more than that when he wants too?

Ok, so this weekend, I will buy the intercooler.

Do I need boost control? what is that? can I live without it when I am on 6~7psi?

Ideas about Boost control : needed? not needed? since it will be stock PSI.

Blow off valve? can it be added later?

im pretty sure if memory serves me correct aaron didnt intend on having the sr20det in before the show, because he was already planning to sell it, he put the fmic into it to get people curious asking questions, apparently it was the talk of the show which is what he was trying to do. He has been trying to sell the car since final battle he initially wanted 28500 but is down to 22000.

The turbo will happily blow back through the SRI at 6-7psi *without a BOV*. I got no idea about boost control though, but I would think if you want a nice even and adjustable torque curve it would be well worth it...

it was a talking point of the show, but most people i'd spoken to said, oh how un-organised, crap, wouldv'e liked to see the turbo, lost all respect for that car now... no wonder he didn't lift the hood

and it was a shame, that car has an awesome engine bay, and to be told that the reason why the hood wasn't lifted was because the IC wasn't connected? not good....

boost controller is used to set a high and low boost setup normally, so flick a switch and you can have big boost, or kepp it turned down for streeet boost

blow off valve is a protection measure against cavitation, and you could probably get away without it, and still be ok on the wastegate only...

Yeah but doesn't the boost controller also bleed off irregularities (dips and peeks) in the power curve as it develops? I'm talking a nice smooth curve instead of an irratic bumpy thing with no form of control... I guess it depends on how constant and predictable you want your power delivery?

Yeah that's true, but with other electronic devices (like stuff from Jaycar) attached to the boost controller, you can shape the boost (add or subtract) to a more desirable curve, particulary if you have a Nissan like buttload of wheelspinning boost in one big hit at 4500rpm... So essentially you can customise the boost to a degree to be more linear or peaky depending on what you want.

That's enough,
Gav.

you need a blow off valve otherwise you'll litterally blow out the throttle body. when you change gears the air pressure needs to go somewhere. if you dont want the bov to be loud, just re-route it back to the intake.

also, boost is controlled by the wastegate, not the bov.

boost controllers control the wastegate mainly. keeping the wastegate closed will up the boost. opening it will drop the boost.
