I had a custom setup done for $475 including a new high flow cat.
Keep in mind the cat is a large cost which you don't have to spend (unless you're looking for every pony you can find)

I paid $390 for mine but I was idiotic enough to get $100 tips on the end! . So really it was $290 for a 2" mild steel, press bent cat back.

What do you want from the exhaust? Power? Sound?
If you want power replace the Header with something like a pacemaker. Will make a big improvement The stock system is 2" so for a performance increase get something bigger Otherwise just a waste of money. If you just want it to breath a little better change cats, get a better muffler if you want a diff sound.

Thread resurrect.
Does anyone know the stock width for the 1.8L exhaust? I'm thinking of getting it done in the near future. The guy I spoke to quoted me for a 2" but would it be worth going 2.25? Will there be much difference? |

I guess I'll have to wait and see. Or hear, rather.
I've thought about turbo, but the cost is way to high. And if I ever get enough money to do it anyway, I won't care about upgrading the exhaust. |

Of course if you want some down low engine then suffering some back pressure maybe a side effect. However this is more of a header thing, the larger the exhaust the better however at some point in time you will stop gaining anything from going to a bigger exhaust.

i have a 2'' muffler/axle back.
gives it a nice note with an induction noise, sounds nice, nothing noticable when driving sensible but a bit more of a deeper purr, but when booting it, 4k sounds superb! |

Glad this thread came back to life, I was going to revive it myself earlier on today.
Anyway, whats the deal with drone? Is it normal for an exhaust to drone? For example mine has a very noticeable drone under heavy loads (low-ish RPM, but foot mashed on the accelerator) but I was wondering in those situations (heavy load) if drone is preventable or not? As for normal driving it is fine, but it just annoys me every time I go up a hill at slower speeds or similar.
