zappy if you need a hand working on the car i'll be free fri and sat, assuming i'm not prepping and spraying my own dents. Assuming all goes well i maybe able to help you respray your car, i'd rather test my skills on my own first though

What a day.... Im extremely exhausted from it all, and I only drove 300kms!!

First of all, met up with gav, dave, karamello, John & Brooke & friend at teh BP for a chat, was all good till we were near natural bridge... Although I wasnt involved in any way with the accident, just seeing it was enough to bring back memories of that said crash i had just over 12 months ago... just utter gut wrenching. Its extremely hard to comprehend that it can happen to anyone, and once more it makes it hard when your pride and joy is "beaten up"...

LOL outta all of this, I can truely say that this QLD community has bonded much more, and thats not to say we should crash cars every cruise, just that we all now know we can depend on other car mates for help, its very comforting

Zappy, if you need a hand at all, send us a pm or something and I will see what I can do, and dont worry about the lift this arvo, just doing what any other mate would do .

Sorry I didnt stay for that long after you's all had fush and chups, I was getting tired and I knew I had a long and tiring 1.5 hour drive infront of me...

Marc

lol, how did you come up with "hardcore"?

I've had a word with Jonny, he's back at my parents house pulling the front of his BG apart with Brooke, they both seem to be doing well.

What happens with the sub-frame in your car Dave? Are you gona get it pulled out/repaired some how?

The bizarre thing about the crash was that just as we were approaching it Adam (aka Hardcore) says " slow down, there's a 1 way bridge up ahead" so I start coasting along and then see all this hard braking and bits flying ... it was like his words unlocked a chain of events. At least it didn't happen trying crazy fully sick drifts or whatever, just plain ol' driver error that no doubt happens quite often at that particular point.

Lets not forget to thank the kind farmer lady who got her tractor out and towed Zappy's car into her yard. It was endearing to see that kind of selfless help. Her dog was nice too .. until it stuck its ruddy paws on you.

..and how crazy were the bodyboarders near the rocks?!

Thats my engine bay! wish the rest of the car was that shiny now

Dad and i took a look at the subframe, we reckon we can tap/push the bracket/well back and it'll all straighten up as it comes back. we hope that happens at least. it felt pretty much normal driving home, won't really know till i pull the bumper off tomorrow night and start working on it.

That would have been bubby trying to open the door....should could only open it a bit...i thin it might have been pushed back a little....Ive had a look at the subframe and thankfully it looks sweet...ill need to take it off the examine it a bit better but once i do that it should be clean sailing...touch wood....Yesterday night was actually fun, i got to teach Brooke how to use a rachet and how to be more observant with bolts and things...at the start she was like "lets just cut that bolt, you wont need it"....bahahahaah, by the end she could get her head around things....quite bonding really....

I think what you will find dave is that the subframe was bent due to the exhaust slamming up into it due to the crash, when u nosed dived, the butt of the hardtop went up, leaving john to basically slide up underneath the bumper and push the exhaust up in the process... I dare say it'd just need a rubber mallet to bang the dent out...

yeah the subframe has lifted a little, the exhaust never hit it though, it was forced down and out of the way. glad i hadn't lowered the car yet or this could have been worse for both of us.
