I'll see how the settling goes. What exactly does it do, like what's happening to the exhaust? I'll save my "what's dynamat" question for google so I'm not so typically gen-Y.

Is the steel wool thing serious? lol

What is a hotdog and what does it do? cost?

Asides from the edible variety.

a hotdog is a small straight through muffler/resonator that cuts down the drone without sacrificing flow much.

as for steel wool pot scrubbers or rolled up chicken wire were the too loud to pass roadworthy solution in the day.

+2 for the hotdog. I've got one installed, makes all the difference. Way less drone (without the hotdog, the exhaust droned heaps) and a little quiter too.

I got my exhaust done at Profix, took them just over an hour to bend and weld everything up. I also just got a generic Lukey muffler from them. The catback just went straight from the cat to the muffler; no resonator or hotdog to quiten the sound. The guy finished welding and started the car up just as the shop was closing, and by far it was the loudest thing I have ever heard; easily defectable in that state. As they were closing, they told me to come back the next day and they would install a resonator for me, totally free of charge.

Based on that, I can't exactly tell you how much a hotdog or resonator will cost including labour, but if I was to take a rough guess I would say anywhere from $50 - $75.

your exhaust shop will have to weld it into your exhaust system
and yes what shaley323 said, i told my mate to do it when he got EPA'd and he passed just hahah,

to be totally hounest i don't know why but i gess it takes the comuter to set in to not having as much back pressure but it settles in a bit happened to ben and matt, and to my brothers commo, but if you haven't gotten a hotdog in there i would suggest it

Thanks for the encouragement and advice guys! I'll wait and see how it settles. Although if it's still too loud (for me, or more likely my brother haha) I'll look into a hotdog.

And don't show it to me with looooowww! I can't afford that shizzz.

There's a way cheaper and way easier solution than dynamat for reducing noise too btw (dynamat is a rubbery sticky sheet of aluminum which is used to add weight to panels to reduce the vibrations.) It however doesnt do a great deal for quieting down the car unless you spend heaps like me (4 boxes @ $210/box)

Pics of exhaust

Took a few snaps of the exhaust last night. Tip leans a little to the right, but at a distance you can't really tell.
