oh and if you're using the GTX engine, it's likely it has a short crank nose... I'll call anyone an idiot who really wants to use the early crankshaft because they have so many issues with the crank pulleys... swap the crank with a known good one with new bearings from a long crank nose BP and call it a day.... don't even mess with the pistons/rings because you're getting into "rebuild" territory then! with the long crank nose you can run any late BG or BA pulleys you want with little worries!
He got a GTR Edwin they have the long nose crank

exactly my point
which is why I said all he needs to do is swap the BA ancillaries over and it's all good... the BA's BP has updated pulley designs which is better anyway.... the BG was still using old style V belts until the GTR came along

Yesterday's effort was spent removing spark plugs from the 121. I attempted this last year and decided it was going to end badly so abandoned it. Took three hours to do a basic service... Heated engine up, pulled out leads, soaked in wd40 while changing oil etc. One came out easy, the others were properly stuck. More wd40. Two came out ok with a bit of muscle. The fourth I was sure was going to break something. Shattered the ceramic and had to use bamboo skewers to get the shards out before continuing LOL. Anyway lots of heat, muscle, patience etc got it out without too much damage. New plugs got smothered in oil and went in much better... Today I got my gearbox and rims from my green writeoff, so the 121 can get some new, slightly too big shoes until the teddies arrive.

I received a package from Mfactory today. No point putting in a BPD if I can't get the power down.

So yesterday i played a little with my vf10 turbo. I have three different front compressor manifolds, as shown below

This is the stock housing,

This is the one i bought originally to replace the stick housing BUT i cant use as two of the threads are stuffed on it, and they happen to be right where the wastegate bolts on.

And this is the new polished housing whish is JUST RIGHT

Can anyone tell the difference between the stock and the new housings??? There is two big differences

the middle one has just had a enlarge pipe welded to it, and still has the normal inside edge diameter for stock afm to turbo pipe.

the lower one has the same, but at least the inner has be rounded/smoothed for better flow.

Correct

But the one with the 3inch pipe welded to it had the centre/inner side of the housing smoothed out for better/less turbulent flow as well. It just wasn’t as nice a job...

Now just to bolt this bastard on haha
I also sent my bp05 BA3 head off for reconditioning. Should flow nice when if back and bolted on the bpt

sounds like it does

you know for a big turbo like this, you should be using the BP26 head instead but use the BA3 cams, valves (unless you got the rare GTR valves), and lifters

It's still a pretty tiny turbo ed? Using the gtx head will help with spoolup correct?
