Finally near the finish line now

...

I have par full straight cut synchromesh engagement 1st to 4th gear and a factory standard 5th gear (quiet) and mazdaspeed LSD

Still worried about the excess noise when using gears 1st to 4th, but we will find out

I was talking to a Toyota nut the other day (when I was getting my engine mounts made up) and he has been running PAR gear sets for years in his street and race Mr2's... there are Pros and Cons with them...

Pros:
- They allow you to shift better at high rpm
- They are stronger
- They make an awesome noise
- On most tracks they can give you up to a 3second faster lap time

Cons;
- servicing them is a biatch (you have to change the fluid constantly as the gears shed)
- They usually only last a season of racing as they are strong BUT brittle
- COST COST COST $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That’s all I can remember atm. I don’t mean to be a pain or anything... just wanna let you know what i know/have been told.

Haha

MP5T has a good clip of his car with his par gearset including straight cut crown wheel and pinion which would be noisier than my standard helical cut I think

This is the first straight cut par gearset that I've owned. I have purchase plenty of neo synthetic gearbox oil purchased from par engineering as per their recommendation.

My other mates that have had these gear sets have lasted years without any special maintainence, apart from changing oils on a regular basis

Motor has been ran in today.
Didn't have my phone with me to record the dyno action.

Ran 120kw at full noise 4500rpm

Not going to do any further tuning until I run up some Kms and change to a normal oil

Car is ready to pickup Friday night, but will pickup on Saturday morning if I can't get out of work early

Car is home now.

The car now sounds like a Sebastian Loeb rally car from 1st to 4th.

I can always change my mind and install my stock box back if it annoys the **** out of me

Cant do much now.

hey man,

are these figures correct?? the stroke is 92mm not 92.5mm. to change the stroke u have to change ur crank. increasing ur rod length wont increase your stroke. iicr
