Slipping Clutch

Hi guys,

Wouldn't you know it, have the engine running well now (apart from going through a bit of oil). And now the clutch is going.

Lots of free play in the pedal and it's started slipping on acceleration/uphill etc.

Have been quoted approximately $800 to replace the clutch. Couple of questions.

Is this a decent price? Saw some older posts where people have had them done cheaper, but they were older posts.

Secondly, is it worth it? Rego is due this month. My BA is old enough to vote, and it has done 250,000k's. How much life have people gotten out of theirs? Should I let the old girl rest and look for a cheap car with less kms?
Seem to be having problem after problem lately, and think I'll have to do something with suspension and possibly exhaust soon also.
