Well. Some good news and some bad news.

I took it to the mechanic's today get a service/timing belt replaced. All was peachy. Ben walks out poor. I also told him it was running a bit rich, but i narrowed it down to my stock air intake was cracked. Sticky tape somewhat fixed it up, but he said he'd have a geeze at my spark plugs etc and all that. He found a "little" bit of oil in one of the plugs. Its had its head gasket replaced before. He apparently tightened it up as it want cracked or anything, because its new and is rubber it expands etc, so a bit of oil got out. Nothing major, he cleaned it all out (^^ doing what was said in previous posts) ALL WAS GOOD.

Got home, my CAI had arrived. Christmas has came early So i installed that.

Sorry for dodgy images. I had greasy hands and didnt want to touch my camera too much haha.

Also, i dont know where to bolt this? Instructions says somewhere on the firewall near the throttle body. ****ed if i know what they're on about. So i've just cable tied it to my bar for the time being.

Maybe the QLD boys can find a spot for it on sunday (If my cars working) Which leads me to my next point.

As i was thrashing the **** out of the new CAI, good old car misfires. I ignored it, thought it might just be some throttle body cleaner still in there. Happened again...and again. I pulled over, scracthed my head. swore at it, stroke the new CAI cause it looked pretty, facebooked my problems, rang dad, rang RACQ. (Not necessarily in that order) They came. he narrowed it down to my coil pack. Its still working but only pulling 1.8V when the average is 5+ One of my coils is pulling 5+....

Sooooo...a tow truck was organised, its at my parents rental house that they sold,So its vacant, and its only 3km from my mechanics where it will be taken first thing tomorrow morning where i will "politely" tell him "WHAT'D YOU DO TO MA CAR MOFO!" Its funny how its been running fine for over a year and a half since i previously had all those problems with the coils/o2 ground, take it to a mechanic, and it instantly screws itself over. So, im a little pissed off right now, but a little excited about my CAI... But mostly pissed off haha

ben a dead coil is not your mechanics fault it's just bad timing, i get these kind of things al the time at work and something like that we can't possible f**k up it's just an electrical fault (we can't possible make the coil work at only 1.8V )

so be nice other wise it makes you look a little silly blaming someone for something that they can't do. no having a go at you just trying to have a go at you just trying to save you from looking a little silly, like i've had a customer come in saying that we put a hole in her tyre only for me to take her wheel off and show her the HUGE nail in her tyre only because we serviced her car 3 days before it was our fualt.

on the up side of things CAI looks sweet as man does is sound sexy???
oh and did you get the complimentry vacume cleaner with it? lol

I'm good mates with my mechanic. I'll scratch his back, he scratches mine sort of a deal....Defiantly wont be mad at him. He's done so much for me when i had those issues to begin with so he'll be more than happy to fix it up for me. It will ultimately be the kind of deal where i pay for parts, he puts it in for free. (Even if it is only coils haha) Hopefully it will be all fine tomorrow. Really hope some joint has some in stock around here.

CAI sounds so hot. The grunt it makes when you start to rev it sounds so good. Haven't had a chance to hear any kind of fluttering /epic suction noises yet due to the little misshaps we had.

WELL, GOOD NEWS CHILDREN! After waiting 2 hours for a tow truck this morning, i took it to my mechanic. He was shocked to see it come in on the back of a tow truck haha.

We worked on it together as i wanted to see how he does the testing on the coils. Well, turns out that the brand new spark plug leads he put on yesterday were faulty. Coils are both running fine. 10 minutes later, I'm driving out of there happy and the car is running fine. He obviously charged me nothing.

The only reason he replaced the old leads yesterday was because they were stock Mazda ones (Were working fine still) but i said to him i got the random little cough every now and then so we might as well replace them. WELL. We shouldn't of haha. So happy that it's fixed and it wasnt another expensive coil job.

I'm not quite sure where you mean. I'll have to have a better look at it...

BUT, while were on the topic of CAI. HOLY CRAP, THE NOISE! My car sounds mean. I love it. Does it with even the slightest of tap on the accelerator. As for performance, cant really tell anything different, but you know, its only a cool 34 degrees today, i might take it for a drive this evening to see. I'm yet to hear a flutter. So keen for a flutter haha

Well i decided i would brave the heat and take some decent pictures. Turns out, im a douchebag and had my camera set on spot metering (Laymen's terms, i told my camera to only focus right in the centre) SO in result, most of my pictures were a flop. They look fine on the camera, but not on the computer. FAIL BEN, FAIL!

But, i got 3 decent ones. None really of the back of the car (they were the hell blurry ones) So i decided to get a bit creative with the editing. Im liking the high contrast look these days
