Hi, im new to this boards but i have a few questions.
My cousin is looking for a 323 astina 95-97 shape and wants to know which of the two motors is better, i myself own a V6 626 so know how much of a pain the KL series can be if not looked after. He is not the modding type, the most he will do is exhaust lowering and a filter, so i am tending to push him towards the V6 instead of the 4. Also, i have a KLZE IM on my 626, does my 03 IM breath better than the K8 one and if so will it fit into the 323? im thinking there would be hood clearance issues, but it would be good if someone could verify this for me. We have only found one manual 323 in all of sydney as of yet, it is a 97 model, 56,000km, manual, white, the standard five spoke 16's, power windows, mirrors, for $20,000 is this a good price? Thanks for your help guys, hopefully another mazda owner will be on these boards soon. Tom[/colorost_uid0]

Hi Tom,
I just bought my 97 astina recently and from my experience (I was looking for one for over 6 months) $20 000 is waaay too much to ask. I picked up mine for $15 000, with 74 000k's on the clock. While I was looking, the prices varied between $13 500, up to around $17 000 at the most. That's including the V6's. Try out the trading post online, that's how I got mine. The only reason why it took me so long was because I wanted a grey astina and the majority of them for sale (which there was hardly any) were auto. Finally found my manual one after a long wait, but it was well worth it. Hope this helps, ~Leanne~[/colorost_uid7]

20 grand my ass! nobody will pay that! if thats not a dealer, they need to check themselves. ks not bad, but its white!
anyway, i agree that he should get the 6. the 1.8 isn't quite the best decision unless he doesn't really care all that much about performance. and u say you can't find a manual? there's always different ones popping up in the papers everyweek. look harder.[/colorost_uid0]

He is after something with a bit of performance thats why i recomended the 6, i think 20g is a bit pricey too, but it at a mazda dealership and that is the asking price, we should be able to get it for 17g hopefully[/colorost_uid0]

My brother recently got very similar car (1.8 tho) from dealer for $14500. $20000 really is quite steep. Especially considering you can buy a new Astina for $19990 on road. Present that argument and see what they say! I know theres a lot of differences, but still. If it really is excellent condition, and they giving a decent warranty, I guess $16-17K would be fair. Kms are pretty low. And then theres Peters car as just mentioned![/colorost_uid0]
