BG - reading fault codes

hey guys,
anyone know how to read the fault codes on a BG astina?
i know the BG sedans and hatch have a check engine light on the dash cluster but not on the astina for some strange reason!!!
i think some form of LED light plugged into the diagnostic socket in the engine bay but i don`t know how to make one up or what connectors to plug it into.
anyone help??? :?
