Door mirror replacement
:?: New to this site and need your help.
I have or rather my wife cracked the door mirror glass on our 323F GTi, 91. Have managed to get replacement glass but need help on how to replace, as to which bit do you disconnect and reattach, i.e. the motor sideb of the push me pull you bit of plastic or the round end into the mirror housing. Has anybody done it and can help, all looks a bit fragile to me or am i missing something?

Hi and welcome
As you're from the UK, why not not join the popuplights.co.uk forum as this is an aussie site  www.popuplights.co.uk Great to have another UK person join us As for the mirror, i know you have to prise out the black part from inside and on the outside ? i think ? you have to pop the mirror out from the housing (its got like a ball joint i think) Is the motor still working? by the way the 323F GT (like mine) is known as the BG model of the 323F series. This'll help you look for topics/posts etc. 300ZX   whoa now thats a supercar 8) Cheers, Joe P.S look for a guy call geetee (neil) he's a expert in these sort of things

I had mazda to replace mine last year, I couldnt figure out how to do it. I know they removed the glass with the black plastic frame, put another glass in that frame and sticked it back in. sorry, thats all I know.
I think if you undo the screw(1st one) at the botton(You have to take the whole mirror out of the door first), the motor+glass should come out! You have to be very careful though because the top of the motor is held in by some clips and you dont want to break them! Move the glass around and have a look inside. If i were you, I would leave to the professionals, because new mirrors are damn expensive! |

ELECTRIC MIRROR
 detach the mirror cover inside the door by using a small screwdriver to pry the cover from the door  remove the mirror retaining screws from inside the door and detach the mirror  unpug the electric mirror electrical connector  if necessary to check or repair the electric mirror switch, detach the electric mirror switch from the instument panel (above ashtray) refitting is the reverse of removal  www.popuplights.co.uk

to remove the glass if it's like the BA Astina you pry it out from the top and it unclips.

Thanks guys, new it would not be easy!
I hvae had another method mentioned:- remove holding screw from under mirror housing and the mirror assembly drops out, you then heat mirror( broken bits) to soften glue stuf and remove glass. do this slso for replacement mirror to remove from surround then stick new mirror to backing and put back in housing! Voila, have not tried it yet though. anybody tried it this way. Most mirrors i have replaced inthe past just clip onto the backing plate. Perhaps Mazda reckon these dont get broken!!!

if you just want to fit new glass, why not just stick it on top of the old glass???
