Step one, start saving! Once you've got 5-10k in the bank you'll be ready to rumble! Theres loads of info here, I somehow thought you had mx5. Oops. And by the time you buy the fm kit, pay for an install, ecu and tune it would be fairly close to 10k... But would be epic.

BAM! About $5000 will get you the parts to build an 11.1:1 comp ratio engine. Add cams and an aftermarket ECU and you will be flying. |

An FE3 would be an easier (I hope) alternative.

Ah, very true. I had forgotten all about the glorious FE3. Much better option than mine.

Why can't you do an engine swap on your Ps? It's not like it's a turbo motor, or even any larger in capacity. Hell, if you do it right only the best mechanics will be able to tell it's not stock. Or is it that age difference you were telling me about Cookie? Where you can't put a older motor into a newer car?

I'm not sure. All i know is that any modification (engine wise) which requires a modplate, is out of bounds. so, from my understanding a modplate would be required for an FE3, simply because it was never an option, not saying it wouldnt be ok, just that it would need one. likewise if you were to put a bp into a car which orginally had an FE3. only when you swap the same engine out is it ok. EG> I could add a v6 to my 4 cyl without a mod plate, as long as I upgraded the brakes, added ABS and possibly the 2nd airbag... in the same way you could swap a dohc into your non sp without one

another example of what you CAN do is. buy a car that came with a turbo engine from factory and detune it with no turbo. then put it back... (waste of time) but has been done.
back on topic. like what cookie said. any modifications that require a mod plate is out of bounds. better off building either a 14 second NA or saving up for a force inducted kit/car

That may be the case in Queensland but the question came from NSW. I've no idea what the rules are there.

being on your Ps, you need to build an engine that looks stock from the outside.
haltech, adaptronic make plug and play ecus for your car. you could do rebuild, exhaust, intake, head work, high comp pistons, cams and an ecu, and pick up a 30% increase in power. but that is a good way to blow $6,000ish for a small gain. |
