It's a single piece of fabric glued on.
Either glue another over it or pull it off and use it as a template to cut your new piece. Spray on contact adhesive should stick on well enough.

primo has done it.. no doubt he'll lob into here at some stage.. I believe that he has got leather inserts on his door trims now, and he did it himself.

ahah tools!. yeah i did it myself with leather although i think itd be much more of a job todo on the BJ because of the more complex nature of the fabricy bit. i think its padded under the fabric too i dunno! odd rodd has done it i think see what he sais about the BJ
edit* ohhhh youve got a hardtop.. series 3 with the black interior and no front door pockets by the looks of it too.. ok then easy.. 1: take off door trims 2: peel out fabric from the bit above the arm rest. 3: get leather/suede/whatever. the thicker the materiel the harder it will be todo. leather = thick, suede = thin. 4 : lay the bit of fabric u peeled off over the new stuff you just bought. make sure its going togo on the right way as all 4 trims are diffrent. trace around this piece being aware that the thicker the material u use the more overhang/extra edging will be required. 5: depending on material thickness choose a glue. i used sillicon/solastic on mine cuz it was thick however something like suede u could use a less adhesive substance. 6: lay doortrim on a flat surface and slowly start to work new fabric onto the door. tucking in the edges is the tricky bit but with a bit of patience and a few pairs of hands it can be done cheers mike |
