Suspension Recommendations?

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 1.8L BA with 190,000km on the clock. It currently looks like a 4WD and all 4 shocks on it are totally gone.

So far I'm in the process of removing the front lower A arms and rear arms to have new poly bushes fitted which are camber offset from Pedders ~ $200. This should hopefully help tighten up the car....

I'm looking at replacing the struts and springs with some 30-40mm lower springs and some decent shocks. What do you guys recommend for around $1000 budget?

Cheers,
Mic

PM astro boy

do you want it to be slammed or to handle well. you get both, but the lowering distance determines which one gets increased more.

look into eibach ground control kit.

definately eibach gc kit, but that'll easily blow your budget with good shocks. see if you can get some koni adjustables and lovell/whiteline for now and the eibach in the future to work with the konis

I want it more to just handle well over the slammed look which I know gives a bumpy ride. The car will be a daily driver, but I'd like it to handle well through corners.

So which shocks are the best for approx $150 a corner?

Koni / KYB / Pedders etc?

Konis and Eibachs, if the budget can stretch that far.

If your budget is a thousand bucks I'd go one of two ways:

1. If you only ever plan to spend $1000 bucks, then go KYB and Eibach, and it, at a guess will be around the $1050-$1150 mark... roughly...

2. OR, spend the thousand bucks roughly on Koni shocks and installation, and then save another $500ish and get the Eibach's at a later date.

Have a squiz here:

Note that some of that pricing has changed (for the better).

I was really happy with King lows + KYB excel G's in my old ride. if I lower my car again I'll be using the same combo.

The springs and shocks set me back $700, 4 strut mate kits $100 (I think thats what they cost), Labour $150. This was just over a year ago, but prices would probably still be roughly the same.
