the BPT is a dircet bolt in ... DIRECT ... no mods needed to fit the bugger (cept getting the intercooler out the front ... have to do that with a b6t anyway) it is newer and makes more power than a B6T ... so why?

B6T is just old and nasty. They have heaps of wires and hoses and don't run nearly as nice and smooth as the BPT....also they lack the torque. Having said that I have a BPT in my car which had a b6t in it before. Mounting was almost exactly the same so its can't be that hard (still not as easy as the BPT).
Do yourslef a favour (for the long run) and stick with BPT. |

Just to let you know BPT's get the cranknose keyway problem too.
Happened to me had to buy a new crank & pulley and have the bottom end rebuilt thats why the engine has been out of my car for the last month.

what exactly is the "cranknose keyway problem" and what causes it?

On the end of the crank at the pulley end there is a raised section that makes
the end of the crank look at little like a key. The pulley slides onto this so that it doesn't spin around. This keyway is not strong/large enough and sometimes it will break allowing the pulley to stay stationary whilst the crank spins. Obviously as the crank spins the leftover keyway and pulley grinds into it making that end of the crank useless as pulleys dont come oversized so you can mill the crank down. A stationary pulley means no alternator, no cams which means no dizzy which all up means no go
