And they probably hold the money for one to two days while they play with it on the international cash or futures market.

its about 5 days before you can transfer the money sort of thing.. its rediculus. but i prefer paypal (apart from not having tried paymate LOL copy much) because of its buyer protection. i got so much money back on things that never arived as described or at all like that. i remember when ebay forced the paypal as a "option" to start of with, 2 of my listings got canceled because i said I DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL (this was b4 i had a account) but i ticked the mandatory paypal option anyway.. oh well.

just remember if you use PayPal outside of EBay. Say for a cash transaction to pay for an item from a US Forum through his/her PayPal email (username) account. You don't necessarily get it back. They try to recoup your money but even if you present to them the transaction details ie: Paid into Joe FannyFarts PayPal email acount.....FanFart@ whatthefarc.com.Irann. If they screw you & don't send your part. Say they havn't a penny in there account. PayPAl will reimburse you squattittlytot! I once got ripped $380 (excluding PayPal service fee ) recieved $16 reimbursement due to lack of funds in the pricks' account

well I do. and people either pay bank deposit or pay extra for the stuff around. most people don't and I give them back the change if there is any from the postage or just keep it if they use paypal...

I think there are positives and negatives to this situation.

It's a pain in the ass when trying to pay or be paid by someone without PayPal so if everyone used it cash would flow a lot more easily. Also as someone mentioned the protection with paypal is good.

Yes it will cost more and that's a pain in the ass but maybe it's worth it for the buyer protection that paypal offer?
