i couldnt believe how well it went today. especially considering the other cars it was up against. there were two m3's a porche 911 (a little disappointing on the pan) and a few mazdas and an integra type s.
the astina was hands down the second fastest behind a subaru liberty. the car just had so much grip compared to the others, i lapped the light blue m3 several times cause they just couldnt get the power down
i love this car..
p.s who says a you cant hold a fwd in oversteer mode?
damn that looks like fun!!

Retinted all my windows on my daily astina... will post pics later

OK, here's the things being installed. The diameter is such that they don't fit inside the backing sheild (hence why they're beaten out of the way before cutting down.

Also I haven't prettied anything up - so the paint on the calipers is coming off, but the calipers themselves are working perfectly.

And this is them on the car after about 150km of driving and abuse - the rust is just about gone and the pads are quite well bedded down. Handbrake is self adjusting well also (the EBC pads have this coating that wears off really quick, but it mucks up the ability adjust the handbrake correctly when first installed).

All in all success.

280mm diameter, 10mm thick and bigger pad area plus better pads has all added up to there being quite a noticeable change in braking.

They'll be a nice match to the other parts sitting in the garage, the 300mm rotors just fit in the 16" wheels with allowance for calipers so hopefully there will be more interesting pics soon. You'll have to wait until I get some bigger wheels before seeing 330mm rotors though.

I will - I'm working on getting the car ready to commute with again, so that means it'll be clocking up about 600km/fortnight minimum..

The brake project will burble along and like the rears I'll brag when it's on.

The fundamental problem with 330mm is the ~$400/pr for the rotors just to fit up, that's more than the (brand new) calipers cost! The 300mm rotors I have for testing cost $10/pair (used but serviceable) and fit under the 16" wheels and will fit under the 17" wheels easily. It's a lot of cash to invest to check and then not use until I can spring $2K on some nice wheels and rubber.

As it is the rears will need new rotors (They were used from ebay and it woudl appear one has a slight warping) and pads as well as new paint/powder coat etc when they're rebuilt prior to full certification by the engineer. Still I'll get a couple of thousand kms on them before then.

A.
