Wilwood Big Brake Kit - 4 stud

Caliper:-
Wilwood Dynalite part # 120-6806, Black, red, polished. $125-$175 depending on colur.

The reason why I chose this caliper, is that it has the smallest pistons and thesefore will not mess with the braking system and pedal travel too much, if any.

Rotor:-
270mm diameter, 22width from a 01-05 Mazda MX5 NB8A/B. RDA normal up to DBA 4000 series available. $250-600 depending on manufacturer.

RDA slotted

DBA 4000 series slotted + x-drilled

The reason why I picked these brakes is that they are cheap cos they come from a common source and same centre hole diameter , rotor width and hat offset. Also they are only 400g grams heavier than the original 257mm rotors. Not worth getting bigger brakes it they are slowing you down right?

Dogbone:-
The missing link. These can be manufactured for around $300. I will this week invest some time in actually getting some firm pricing for these. They should look similar to the below picture. George May from Racecraft on the Sunshine Coast will be making these up for me.

Brake Lines:-
Will get these from from the same mob how did my currect ones. $45-50 each depending on number purchased at time.

Brake Pads:-
There is about 10ish different pads to choose from. Street usable, then all the way up to cold squeeling track spec pads. $100-$200.

The pads will need to be machined 0.45mm to allow the 22mm wide rotors to fit.

i'd just like to add that this is not a business venture. if i make a few bucks off selling the digbones, that'll offset the initial developement costs of manufacturing the 1st one. all the info is there for everyone to source their own parts. so if anyone reading is keen for something like this kit, and is also keen to throw a few dollars into the prototype dogbone fund, then they'll get that discounted later when everything has been finalized and i haven't killed myself during testing.

Update:-
George May from Racecraft on the Sunshine Coast will be making the dogbones up. If you google his name and company, you'll find he has done everything to every car know to man.

I can only find blue from eBay sellers. I assuming they are a discontinued colour. Best pic I can find below.

If you can make the stock front ones fit the back without too much hassle it will be more than enough IMO

that would actually be a really neat idea- if possible. dont know if its just me, but ive only replaced my front rotors with slotted and if i were to do this upgrade it would be an added bonus to be able to re-use some parts to save a little money

Don't forget the MX5 SP rear brake setup - a bigger pad in the standard BA caliper (using a Mazda caliper spacer) and a 276mm rotor.

Yup that is the road I will be taking. That way the rotors are easily found and you get to use the handbrake still.

Using the fronts on the rear means loss of the handbrake function. Unless you wanna put a hydro brake system in place, which is more $$$ and not legal.
