I've got JVCs in both the Bug and Astina, and love them. They're the ones with the small DVD screens in them than can play DVD MP3s - no need for an iPod then.

My old one in the Astina was also a JVC - one of the Chameleon ones. Worked well for 6 years until the volume knob stopped working, and i think that's pretty good that it lasted so well in a stiffly sprung car.

I just find they're easy to navigate and set up. I had a Clarion in the bug previously and it was an annoying pile of **** compared to even the old Chameleon.

I have one of these in my car - http://jvcmobile.co.uk/product.php?pr=12

Love it. As Rupe said, their user interface is very nice. Got it cheap too from JB-Hifi. Of course I haven't put it through its proper paces cause I am still deciding what speakers to get.

Yeah I just bought a 4 gig SDHC card with a usb reader, have that sitting in my car whenever I get bored with the radio/my cd collection. Stick it on random and away you go.

best HU are the ones with a SD card slot. load up a card, stick it in and never take cds again

I've played with JVC units, my uncle has a 7" one, very nice quality build, good sound. I reckon their pretty good

When JVC entered the modbile entertainment market as I guess they called it.
I was lucky enough to be one of them special people. I got a fair whack of promo stuff from car mats to tool kits to sticekrs to the products.

I got in the mx6 it's that old now was when it was released 2nd from top range. had the PICT stuff in it. I a bit pissed because the units Rupe mentioned was what replaced them effectivley.

but I had JVC in VR with all speakers and one amp. The only products not performing to a standard I'd say I would expect was the AMP.
for 4channel it was fine on power but lacked clarity and the smooth bass of others. I don't expect say a clarion type of clarity but at least a jump from say a Jaycar amp or base sony. but it was more par. but for the price that I didn't pay it was fine.

I've never had problem with head units. IMO GOOD Value for money.
you get a lot of features you mgiht pay more for in another brand.

I'd buy a JVC over a pioneer even if the pioneer sounds tad cleaer because you need to pay $200 more on retial on he Pioneer for the features.

It's only when I compare to a alpine do I find the pioneer good but the JVC is great bang for buck.

Very tough too. I only expect head units to last 1 -3 years. mines is i'd say 5 or 6 now.

Yeah mine has one of those as well - but the bugger doesn't take SDHC - so I am stuck with up to 2 gigs.

i have a 90gig HD that is powered off the USB so i just stick that in, never could you beat the ease of taking a 2.5 inch HD around instead of 1000's of CD's....

Hey all, has anyone heard anything about "KICKER" products in general, i found some component speakers that absolutely ate the pioneers in terms of bass and clarity, i have some coaxial kickers in the door now which i got with the car and they are sweet, just want some positive or negetive feedback...chers

I've heard good things abt kicker, espcially the square subs.

I also had the chameleon JVC head unit, still have it actually, loved it, very easy to use and clear clean sound.
