Did they have to order them in? I rang my local Tyrepower to get some tyres and they said they'd have to order them in, so they'd call me when they get in... sheesh what is this

Worst salesman ever though "Hi, I'm interested in getting some tyres from you guys" - Him: "Yep..."

Ok.

i'm running Nexen N3000's, stiff sidewalls (read you feel EVERYTHING, even with stock suspension) but they stick pretty well. i cant flick the back out anymore (PS. $105 a tyre , don't knock them till you've tried them)

Ze912

Have had Falken Ziex ZE-912s on the car for a couple of weeks now.

Got them at a bargain - $110 a corner (granted it was an invoicing mistake... but im not complaining) 195/50/15.

They're great all-rounders; infinitely more grip than the last dodgy 'performance' tires that Jax recommended (an unbranded Bridgestone essentially) although downside is noticeably less steering effort required. I thought it was just me at first... but have read about this as a con on these tires elsewhere - comes down to the tread pattern.

Very happy, would probably rate them similar to the much more expensive FM-901s i had once before.

I've got Toyo Proxes4 on the front now, no complaints, much nicer than the Hankook's Rupe had on there before - but I don't push my car much.

$185 each I think.

i've got 4000k on the new fronts and they look pretty new.. i'm hoping for close to the full 30000k out of them. I wore the **** out of 2 of the old BG tyres, apparently you can do a reasonable burnout in a 1.8 if you almost lockup the rear tyres

Been using Bridgestone RE001 Adrenalin 205/50 R15 for a few weeks. Definately more dry grip than the 195/60 R14 GIII's, but noisier when pushed hard. Really annoying. Will be looking for something that corners more quietly so I don't attract so much attention. I'm told Falken RT615 lets go quietly. I nearly bought them in the first place, but I'm suspicious of their wet perfomance (It rains alot here).

really?

I've found my RE001s to be fairly quiet when given hell, (195/55/15)

on the road I haevnt managed to get them to make noise, even when spinning them mine are pretty quiet.

they did squeal on the racetrack though but nothing too loud, and they squal a lot on the skidpan (well duh!?)

edit:
mine are worn though, fronts are about 2mm off the wear indicators, and the rears are about .5mm off the indicators.

I just want to say i'm extremely happy with my Toyo Proxes R1R. i've got them in 205/50/15 on the front of my Astina and they have fantastic grip. even in the wet with my BPT it struggles to lose grip in first and is rock solid through second. so dry performance is off the chart! $205 a pop at Tyrepower i think.

I wonder what the difference is? Type of surface, alignment, pressure etc? It's mainly the outside front at lowish speeds when starting to push a bit, like in town at less than 60kph. Higher speeds when lifting on entry to get a little bit of oversteer, then powering out even to the point of getting wheelspin at 100kph hasn't been a problem. The outside of the front left on mine does get trashed from the roundabouts here, which are great fun, but they can make tyre rotation problematic.

Sounds good, but let's see how long they last with a treadwear rating of 140!
