Got rear ended in wolffdene...

Hi All,

I was cruising through wolffdene yesterday, when I went to turn right into dunns rd. Up from behind me, some woman in a 4wd with a chunky bullbar "didn't see me" and swerved to avoid me.

Unfortunately she didn't quite see me and slammed into my back left corner of my car (if you saw a pile of glass at the end of dunns rd, that was me )

I'm taking my poor baby (Mazda Astina SP20) to the smash repairs today, but I figured I'd post a thread on here first with piccies to get a general idea of what to look for, what to ask the smash repairs, etc etc.

Also I'm guessing that theres no easy way to check if the chassis is rippled?

Looks to be a writeoff, just look at how warped the metal is around the rear window in the 2nd pic!

Bourbon,

I realised that they were pretty chunky when I first posted them, but you understand that the bigger the pictures are, the more detail you can see in them.

Also I'm insured with comminsure... just took it down to the local smash repair so waiting on their quote for the moment.

I just CAN'T BELIEVE that the other drivers excuse was that she "zoned out", essentially not paying attention.

depending on how you resize it...i have to move the scroll bars side ways and up and down just to see 1 pic...sure if it was the size of the screen it would be fine but not if its way bigger...to hard to see when its way bigger...

it's very borderline for a write off. it'll all depend on the damage underneth the rear bumper. lots of parts required though. i wouldn't be surprized if it gets fixed.

chassis should not be bent.

but... is the roof warped near the back right?

my car is in the panel shop the the moment also.

Damn that sucks lewwy

They should be able to put it on a chassis jig, punch in the specs of the Sp20 and tell if the rails are bent or if anything is out of alignment.

But i'd suspect writeoff too.

I think it shouldnt be a write off, But it's up for the insurance company to asses. But in my oppion it sould just be a new rear door, rear bar and kit. maybe side panel damage.

Sorry to hear thou!
cheer cass

yeah i hope its not a write off too...

looking at the last photo there tho, it looks as if the metal bar that runs all the way up has a bit of a ripple in it? (I hope I'm wrong)
