Heya guys. Whos not doing a GTX/GTR swap? Garrett make a 250-300hp snail for the 323..... Product ID: GA-CUS-320-LAS. Its bout $1600. Either of u using this? If so, how much is install, and wat else u hooking it up with ie ECU type, i/c type, BOV etc. Total cost as opposed to engine swap? It keeps sitting in the back of my mind whether to sell in a year when Im working full time or whether to turbo and keep. Just dont want to overcapitalise in this car.
Cheers guys.[/colorost_uid0]

Mine cost me $6k in the end... I did all the work myself in garage with friends

6k was for everything
Motor
i/c and piping
Blitz BOV
Nearly every gasket changed
Exhaust
Timing belt
All new fluids
Paints
Engineering
Rego

I will have pics and a movie up soon.. Its running well but having problems with the water flow... Fixing that tonight... I think the water pump has rusted up from sitting around for so long. I might have to replace that... Its either that or the waste gate opening and making the rushing noise.. its hard to work out[/colorost_uid0]

Your talking about the XTR turbo thats the direct bolt on
correct. *Looks interesting. *On the other hand remember
that Dan has Erics old setup so is running a T04 ball bearing
which is probably even bigger than the XTR.
I haven't upgraded because of reliability issues but
do think of them every single day.

Regards

Even better. T03 on the exhaust side for quick spool up
and T04 on intake to pump out good air.[/colorost_uid1]

i think it would be a bit too big for the 1.5
for 1.5, i'd suggest a ball bearing t25 or even ball bearing t28 and a good setup.[/colorost_uid0]

Keeping the standard manifold saves about $500-700.
Turbo selection is such a grey area as spend here, save
there and then trying to figure which is best.
Compairing that turbo to a VF-8 Hybrid in output not sure
of and the VF-8 is only about $900 and will also bolt to the
standard manifold. Another option is a RB20/RB25 turbo
for $400 ball bearing and then make a manifold for
the price above. Use it till its not enough, sell it for almost
what you paid and then add whatever turbo that has a
T3 flange. Look at the output that Turbo has with his T3/T4.
Am also keen to know Rupe's output when they do the
fine tune on his ECU on the Dyno.

Regards

Do you mind me asking what is the problem. Is it a
bent or broken wheel, an oil leak or a bearing problem.
Lot of things that may be damage that fixing them would
not exactly be regarded as a rebuild.

Regards
