I ran the C spot for years, and I don't recall anything exceptional happening to my tyres with regular rotations.

right, shes all done, piccies to follow after they wear in a bit.

Slight obstruction by brace on the bonnet but a few washers on the hinges will clear it and get me a bit of engine bay venting.

thanks for your advise gav.

i had that issue as well.. i ended up bending the brace a little to fit it better (as the ends screw in anyway allows for a inch movememnt) after that was all good

It's normal for $#!Teline strut braces to just hit the bonnet. It doesn't matter what make or model you have, that's just how it is.

In my old car in NZ I did the same as maztech by using short self tapping screws straight into the carpet and it never budged. Even after the crash it was in, it still stayed right there.

^^ all I ever do. Won't budge. I even used brackets screwed to boot floor for slim-line Sub box in the GT Hatch but under the seats, self tap screws. Don't need bolts unless you want more work?

Iv'e also drilled holes (neatly & descretely) through inner sill guard through carpet to pull thick speaker wires & position out of site under seat

haha my sub box is VERY heavy and carpeted, as is the BA boot, but th boot carpet sits on very fine plastic. all that plus my cornering meant that my sub (and the boot carpet) moved around a fair bit. i solved it but screwing brackets to the boot plastic, cutting small holes in the carpet for the brackets to poke thru and then i okky strapped the sub down haha all in all it doesnt move any more a little overboard but

If you are looking for no frills, straight off-the-bat info. The expense is enormous. If you knew someone @ pick up point it would @ least be feasable. There is so much to organise. Last time I researched, you must:

a) find import company (both ends) & go through rigmarole with them
b) have full documentation from seller @ the pick up location. He must fill out all relevant paperwork & submit it to Import Authorities.
c) You must then do the same. If car is older than (don't quote me, just check online)tthan 1986? it is far cheaper. Newer cars are stung with extra taxes & duties.
d) Once you get the vehicle on home soil, you may have to pay anything from insurance fees; dock loading/clearance fees; custom clearance fees; car cleaning/detail fees etc ewtc. You won't even get the total up front. They decide once it arrives.

You would really have to desire the car very very much to even consider it.

Stil interested? Check online or you could call dock yard

I think from memory US was better/cheaper to import from but, obviously cars are far more expensive over there. UK cars are cheap as chips (check Unique Cars) but our $ is worthless over there so really, you have to do some offsetting to come up with what you want

Don't forget with the new RAWS/SEVS (can't remember which one it is) if this is the first time since the legislation went through that a model is going to be imported, an import for a safety test has to be done, then import your one. If it is a popular model then this would've already been done as it only needs to be done once. If it is over a certain age then it doesn't need this as it is a classic import from memory. What were you looking at importing?

I'd recommend http://www.importmonster.com.au/car-importing-service

There's a cost calculator there that lets you know what you're up for costwise
