got a knock, options?

****ing BPT just started knocking in the cold mornings after i went for a good mountain run last week. it seemed fine the couple of days after, but now it ticks/knocks loudly on cold start and even though i let it warm up, I ALWAYS WARM UP, its still making noise until about 5 mins into the actual trip. oil level is always above full on the stick. cold starts in the middle of the day are pretty good though, touch wood. i'm also running a nulon 15w-50 street and track oil. i'm so pissed off because i spent 2-4 minutes EVERY bloody morning waiting for it to get the needle on the scale of the graph and then the turbo timer would warm it down every time. whats the point if its going to die in the arse anyway?

now, let me know what i can do from this point.

should i run motul turbolight or some really expensive 10w oil or something?
how much is a rebuild?
i just started to like the car and goes and does this to me, little bastard. i'm this close to running up the personal loan for a brand new car after years of cars ****ting out.

have you tried to run a thicker oil??? i reckon the stuff your using is too thin for the age of the engine...

everyone i've talked to has said 15w is too thick for a japanese turbocharged motor. every site recommends 10w. and wouldn't an oil with too thick a cold viscosity damage my engine even more when its cold and knocking as the oil wouldn't move about the engine properly.

i use HPR15, but my engine was rebuilt a few years ago. I personally wouldn't use anything thinner - especially on an older engine with a high mileage.

15-40 is the thinnest I 'd use on any 80's tech turbo engine.

all new cars totally different

B6T - BPT- F2T - all desgined to run the then mazda oil of 20w-40W

Change your spark plugs... go down to any local auto shop and tell them your problem, they should be able to help.
