Hi there! Just wanted to say hello to all! I've just sold my previous car (90 celica sx), moved from Melb to Perth and bought a BA V6 over here.

Just thought I'd say hi all, and looking forward to making noise, participating and benefitting from the gajillion threads around.

Cheers.

Dave.

Hi All,

I've just received an RAC vehicle appraisal on the car - now please note that I've put a $50 deposit towards the car, and will have to settle it by end of tomorrow (agreed to $6500).

The mechanic reported that these are the following (-)ve points:
1. Interior Light inoperative
2. LH Number Plate Light Inoperative
3. RH Front Fog Light Lens damage
4. LH & RH Front Door Lock unable to lock/unlock wiht key during this inspection
5. Suspension Operation - Knocking noise at right front (Further investigation required)
6. Engine Valve Train - Valve related operational noise - Further investigation required <--- this has my most concern
7. Coolant/Inhibition - Coolant discoloured, Flush and renew.

There has been panel and paint repairs, with filler usage, on various panels on the left and right side, and 'poor quality finish' on a respray (probably over 2 yrs ago)

Now, with the price I've quoted above, and the little kinks above (and those requiring attention), do you think I should go ahead with the sale?? Cos I thought that the price I've gotten is already very good, here's the redbook page:

http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au...s.php?id=81848

And here's the car itself :

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/MAZDA/323/details.aspx?__sid=1181A96D3AA8&Cr=10&__Ns=pCar_Pr ivateSpecialFlag_Int32|1||pCar_ImageCount_Int32|1| |pCar_LastModifiedDate_DateTime|1&State=Western%20 Australia&distance=25&silo=1003&seot=0&__Nne=20&Mo del=323&R=5653379&__N=4294965340+83+834+285+257+42 94964064&Make=MAZDA&state_id=83&trecs=16

What do u'all think? Good price? Negotiate further? Drop it and leave it? I spoke to a different RAC mechanic and he said the respray is really quite a flag for further possible damage, especially cheap resprays.

I'm at a loss.. the car is so nice, yet after making a terrible purchase on my previous car, warning signs just make me shy away! The car has full sevice history at the same Mazda dealer its entire life...

what sort of valve train noise? call the mazda dealer, see if they have a history book, confirm and ask aout any repairs. also look for smash repair places stickers on the car, key rings etc and call them

i did this with my car and found out that all the damage had been superficial from being swiped by a truck and there wasn't any mechanical damage at the time
